Bike Rack Issue With Class 1 Hitch

Written by Hitchweb Team Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Why won't my Curt bike rack will not fit inside my Draw-Tite class 1 trailer hitch?

All Draw-Tite class 1 trailer hitches have an indent inside the hitch to prevent certain products with higher load capacity or higher rated Class II ballmounts from being used. Because of this stop inside the hitch, the rack will not fully slide in and the pin will not be able to lock into position. A class 1 trailer hitch can usually carry 3 regular bikes or 2 downhill bikes. You should purchase a class 2 or class 3 trailer hitch if you plan to carry more.

Primus VS Prodigy Unit

Written by Hitchweb Team Thursday, July 10, 2014

The primus and prodigy units, is there any benefit with a small trailer with a consistent loaded weight?

This would be dependant on the travel route the tower would be taking.  If the tower will be towing a small consistent load over relatively flat terrain, than an 83501 (Time type) controller would be more than sufficient.  However, should they be traveling on varying degrees of incline and tow often, they would be better off with an inertia activated style (

ISSUE WITH 118266 HARNESS

Written by Hitchweb Team Wednesday, June 4, 2014

WHY ARE THE BLUE AND BLACK WIRES REVERSED ON THE 118266 HARNESS?

VEHICLES:
05-13 Nissan Frontier
05-12 Nissan Pathfinder
05-13 Nissan Xterra
09-13 Suzuki Equator

For undetermined reasons, some Nissan and Suzuki vehicles with factory tow package wiring have been found with the Electric Brake and Battery Charge wires reversed in the vehicle’s main harness. This issue has been found on a very limited basis, but includes all models that use the 118266 and 118267 harnesses. The reversed wiring will cause the trailer’s Electric Brakes to lock as soon as the trailer is plugged into the vehicle’s 7-way and the vehicle’s ignition is in the Run position. If this occurs, disconnect the trailer’s plug and the Electric Brake Control from the vehicle. Next, verify the vehicle’s 7-way functions, specifically the Battery Charge (pin 4), and the Electric Brake (pin 2) pins with a test light or voltmeter to ensure the functions are correct.
