Is My Vehicle Factory Wired

Written by hitchweb Team Tuesday, March 2, 2021

There are 2 common ways to determine whether or not your vehicle is factory wired.

1. If you purchased your vehicle with a trailer hitch on it, odds are you will have wiring also. The wiring should be hanging right next to the trailer hitch.

2. Check your owners manual. If your vehicle does not have a trailer hitch but you arent sure if there is factory wiring, your owners manual will tell you.

Need a wiring kit for your vehicle? Use our trailer hitch search to look up your vehicle and select your vehicle make and model, then select trailer wiring before selecting the year of your vehicle.

HOW TO STOW YOUR ROOF TOP TENT TO THE CEILING OF YOUR GARAGE

It's freezing in Canada right now which means unless you're a burly, Canadian man living the #bigfootlyfe, chances are you're not making plans to sleep outside. With that being said, a Roof Top Tent is no small item and it's recommended to be stored 2 inches off the ground to prevent moisture from getting in.

So where do you store it if you don't have much room on the ground? Your garage ceiling can do the trick!
Here's our tried and true tested way to store a Smrt Tent.

  1. Setup anchor points onto tent, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. Tent anchors used will vary based on tent

  2. Based on the space between tent anchor points, fasten rope rings to the ceiling using 2.5” lag bolts

  3. Fasten cleats about 12 inches away from pulley, to provide clearance for tent

  4. Use quick links to connect ceiling mounted rings to pulleys
