Environmentally Friendly Tips to Help You Enjoy Your Trip
1. Avoid Disposable Plates and Containers
2. Buy Environmentally Friendly Products - (RV especially)
3. Pick Up Trash As You See It!
We know you're a concious camper, but there's some not so environmentally friendly campers out there, which breaks our heart. We can do our best to mitigate what they've done though! Bring an extra trash bag with you on your 4x4 explorations or camping trips and clean up as you go. You can save a poor unsuspecting animal from injesting something it shouldn't and keep our parks and forests looking pristine the way they should be.
4. Compost
Hitchweb has a simple fun tip of simply bringing a big Jar or sealable reusable container for all your compost.
Pack it in, pack it out!
5. Use Environmentally Friendly Cleaning Products
Sometimes you require more than water and some scrubbing for yourself or your dishes. If so, be sure to use biodegradable cleaning products! So what does that mean? No phosphate, surfactants, triclosan, or any “anti-bacterial” ingredients. These products can destroy the rivers by spiking algie growth, and be toxic to aquatic life.
Also keep in mine that no matter how eco-friendly or not, soap should not be used directly in rivers or lakes. The best way to clean while camping is with a portable washing bin and a fine strainer to catch any bits of food and put it in the trash or your compost, and wash several hundred feet away from a body of water.
HItchweb has a handy soap for you! That comes in seed paper, of a non-invasive flower of course. CHECK IT OUT
Also instead of some toxic bug repellent try making your own, with a reusable spray bottle, equal parts water and apple cider vinegar, eucalyptus essential oil, and a few drops of lemon oil.
6. Tell your friends
